Dr. King has made countless monumental quotes and speeches on the state of the human race and its travel to equality and respect to mankind. There are two quotes that stick out in my mind the most when I think of Dr. King. One is a quote that says “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” He also has another quote that says “We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” Dr. King’s dream wasn’t just about African Americans, but his dream was that all people would live together in harmony. If it wasn’t for Dr. King, many of us would not have the opportunities that we have now, whether in business, health or music. Yet, he wanted everyone to have the access to the tools of success, including Indian Americans, Hispanics, Jews, Asian Americans, Christians, Muslims and anyone who lived in this country. No matter you color, creed or religion; Dr. King believed we all as men had the right to a free life. I remember Dr. King not just for what he did, but how he sacrificed his life and family. He gave up the priviledge to be a father for the betterment of people in America. It takes a lot to leave your family behind for a better purpose. I can understand that as a father, I wouldn’t want to leave my son behind for anything, but Dr. King made that sacrifice so that I could have the opportunity to do what I love and still be a dad…
Thank you Dr. King… Your dream lives on in my life and the lives of all who have come after….
