For whatever it’s worth, Nene has a mean hustle. She’s clearly taking a page out of the Kardashian handbook and using her reality TV stardom as a launching pad to do so much more from acting to now making her way into the fashion industry.
It wasn’t long ago that we found out she was designing footwear for ShoeDazzle, which coincidentally is headed by Kim K., but now she’s going beyond shoes to an actual line of clothing. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
On Tuesday, the 44-year-old mother of two announced that she has signed with global brand licensing agency Beanstalk to make her move into fashion. Beanstalk says in an announcement tied to Licensing Expo 2012, now going on in Las Vegas, that it intends to “leverage NeNe’s position in pop culture to offer consumers fashion-forward, affordable apparel and accessories, designed to empower women to walk into a room and ‘own it’ — like NeNe herself.”
No deal is signed yet, but Beanstalk will look to license a range of consumer products built around fashions that will appeal to the women who have watched her evolve on the show.
All this on top of being slated to earn $1 million for next season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta? It’s clear Nene finally had her “aha moment” and realized the money was in building her brand and not acting like a clown on TV. Hopefully her clothing line will be all that it promises. I personally would like to know who does her eyebrows and how I can get in on that action, but maybe that’s next on her ever-expanding empire list.
